Queensland Trust For Nature

Conservation is a shared responsibility.

QTFN works with landowners, government agencies, scientists and other non-profit groups to identify, enhance and protect private land with high conservation values.

The Trust does not lock up land. It promotes positive interaction on covenanted land to improve environmental, social, economic and educational outcomes and adds value to properties, where possible.

Nature Refuge Assessments

QTFN is the first private agency to enter a partnership with the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection to privately assess Nature Refuge applications on behalf of the State of Queensland.

QTFN conducts assessments and recommendations on a fee for service basis. This new assessment capability for Queensland allows private landholders, who may have been on a Nature Refuge assessment waiting list, to have their property assessed in a more timely fashion.

Queensland has nearly 500 Nature Refuges - covering some 4 million hectares - which are integral to biodiversity protection in Queensland.

A Nature Refuge assessment and certification via QTFN can provide an efficient, outsourced service to secure and maintain critical habitat, as required under State and Federal biodiversity offset requirements for the resources, infrastructure and property development sectors.
