Rainforest Ridge Nature Refuge 

Bribie Island residents Fiona McGill and Richard Proudfoot say a decision to purchase their own piece of protected bush in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland was a form of “affirmative action”.

The island couple bought a 60 hectare Nature Refuge at Curramore, near Maleny, from QTFN in 2013.

Gooungalba Nature Refuge

First home buyer Nate Shaw used his starting steps in the housing market to secure a significant biodiversity corridor on the Sunshine Coast.

The Sunny Coast local looked past the offerings of large residential estates and first home owner grants in favour of hectares of eucalypt forest in North Arm to be called the ‘Gooungalba Nature Refuge’.
